Work Experience for Schools - Laiba Ismail

Nov 2022

This October half term, we had two school going young ladies join the practice for a week of work experience to learn all about Architecture and how it all works in practice.

Before they left we asked them some of the following questions and here are their responses:

Laiba Ismail

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I attend Willows High School in Cardiff in Year 11 so going my GCSE's.  I like reading, going to the gym and playing the piano.

Why did you choose to come to PDA for your work experience?

To challenge myself with art and design and to see what architecture was all about. I found it all very interesting.

What have you worked on while with PDA?

I have been working on elevations on paper, then using Revit and Photoshop on the computer and finished off by designing my dream home and making a brochure.

What have you enjoyed the most in your time with us?

I have enjoyed exploring the office and knowing what it feels like to be an architect. I enjoyed meeting new people and learning new skills.

What are the key things you have learned?

I learnt how the 3D printer works, how to make a brochure.  Also key to my experience was concentration, patience and focus.

What are your ambitions for the future?

I'm interested in Architecture but still deciding on my options.  Maybe I will come back.
