Dyllas Court, an RCT Homes sheltered housing complex in Cymmer, Rhondda, has not only received the RNIB Platinum standard award for the Visibly Better Accreditation but is also shortlisted in the Residential category of the RICS Wales Awards.

The property is one of the many sheltered housing complexes that we are regenerating and remodelling for our client in the borough of Rhondda Cynon Taff. The building was originally built in the 1970’s and thus required a modern upgrade. The 18 units of accommodation which comprise flats, bedsits and communal facilities received new windows and doors, new kitchens and bathrooms, creating light and spacious modern living.

The changes also aid the tenants as they age, the installation of a wireless warden call system, level access showers and a treatment room are just some of these.

The remodelling of the communal areas has regenerated the connection that Dyllas Court tenants have with their community. Local people can now share the social activities that are an everyday enjoyment at Dyllas court resulting in a warm, friendly social integration with new and old friends.
