Wetlands Nature Reserve
This project for the RSPB, located on the Newport Wetlands Reserve in South Wales, accommodates varying educational functions. Flexible service areas, administration areas and common areas were the objective here.
These aims were essential for the Newport Wetlands Nature Reserve and the RSPB, both to attract people of all ages and also to promote the prestigious nature of the RSPB and this particular reserve generally.

The striking new centre sites on the edge of the reserve nestled among reeds and pools, which will soon become inhabited by the local birdlife.
The centre houses a shop and café for visitors to relax in, an education room for schools, activities and events, as well as conference facilities for local businesses and community groups.
Most importantly, the new centre is a gateway into the beautiful reserve with its diverse mix of habitats and wonderful wildlife.

This is really great as it is the local community who voted for this award and over 180,000 votes for the various categories were received. This is fantastic for the Newport Wetlands reserve as it shows how popular the reserve is amongst the community.
