Tiny Rebel Brewery
NEWPORTTiny Rebel is a family run micro-brewery based in Newport that has enjoyed meteoric success since it was established a little over 6 years ago. As a result of this success, Tiny Rebel had outgrown its existing premises so invited Powell Dobson Architects to design a new brewery and visitor centre for a site in Rogerstone, north of Newport.

The design involved the refurbishment and expansion of an existing industrial unit to provide a new brewery area of 2,500m2 (including 400m2 of administrative offices) and a visitor centre of approx. 450m2 that included a tasting bar, catering kitchen and events space that opens to a generous external terrace that can be used for beer festivals and functions for 200 to 300 people.
We worked closely with the client team to develop a design that references aspects of the brewing process through the use of stainless steel cladding, weathered steel retaining walls and bold graphics. These elements are united beneath a dramatic cantilevered roof that shelters the terrace and creates a distinctive, welcoming place for staff and visitors.
