Digital Technology plays a significant role at Powell Dobson, we are able to design buildings more efficiently and creatively, bringing huge benefits to our design team and clients. Digital Technology reshapes how we communicate, collaborate and deliver knowledge.

Technology continuously evolves so we have a dedicated innovation team focused on monitoring industry trends, and trialing the latest technology to make sure we are always at the forefront of the industry.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital way of designing, constructing, and managing buildings or infrastructure. It involves creating a detailed digital model that includes information about the physical and functional aspects of a project.

BIM helps different professionals collaborate, make better decisions, and manage the entire lifecycle of a building, from planning to demolition. It’s widely used in the construction industry for its ability to improve efficiency and reduce errors.

3d printing

We have an in-house 3D printer, which is an extremely valuable tool for us during the design process. We are able to 3D print intricate and detailed architectural models to scale, which is crucial for understanding the scale and proportions of the design. The 3D printed models provide a physical representation of the design, allowing clients, and the design team a better understand the design and further informed design decisions.

3d visualisation

Powell Dobson has its own highly experienced in-house 3D Visualisation team.
3D Visualisation is an integral part of our workflow and has transformed how we design, communicate and experience architectural Spaces. Using the very latest 3D rendering software and powerful computer hardware, we can produce highly photorealistic marketing quality 3D images and fly through animations, that accurately represent the architectural design before they are physically built.

drone photography + video

Drone photography has become and invaluable tool, we utlise the photography and video at different stages of the project. Site analysis – to get a better understanding of the site and surrounding context. Design Development – We are able to photomontage 3D models into the photography to see how our buildings sit with its context. During construction – a unique perspective to monitor the progress of the project for better communication with our clients. Marketing and Presentation – Once the building is complete we can capture high quality video and photography for brochure and presentation.

virtual reality

We provide several different virtual tour experiences, which are a powerful and immersive tool that revolutionises the way we interact with clients to understand architectural concepts.
Using high-quality rendering software En-scape integrated within Revit or SketchUp, clients can explore the project as if they were inside it, allowing for a deeper understanding of the design’s spatial qualities and overall feel. Clients can easily grasp the design, visualise spaces and make more informed decisions.
