We were appointed in July 2011 to undertake this fast track design and construction of four buildings on the Port Talbot site. The first, which has achieved BREEAM “Outstanding” with the highest score in Wales, is a 250,000 sq ft Distribution and Storage Centre which includes a three storey ‘state of the art’ office suite and control facilities.  This High Bay storage building has overhead cranes to one half of the building and high racking systems and carousel units to the other half. The building also accommodates administration/office areas for the processing of the products in storage.

Harnessing the waste energy produced during the manufacture of steel on site, in the form of flare gas and steam, means these zero carbon buildings will run entirely on free heating, electricity and hot water.  The Team as a whole understood the common goal of producing zero carbon buildings, and by working very closely together maximised the sustainable opportunities as the project grew.
